A Social Media surprise-ending
“Social Media Surprise” By Steve Adams In an earlier spot, I said that I was in radio back in the ‘80’s. I worked through college as the Chief Engineer for the campus station and was going to move into the General Manager position my Senior year. Knowing I could not do both jobs, I offered the Chief Engineer spot to my roommate, who was a year or so behind me. It took me MONTHS to talk him into taking the position, but he finally accepted.25 years later, I managed to reconnect with him over social media. For all its fallacies, social media is a nice way to keep in touch with people across time and distance. As we reconnected, I was amazed to learn that he still had his sense of cunning humor and that he had stayed with the station until he too graduated. We are still friends now, but surprisingly, I learned that the begging I had to do to get him to take my job must have started a career path in which he still works today.
