Nov 12 The mouse crisis of Custer County SD

The joy of living in crime-free, small-town, red-state America! The locals in Custer, South Dakota got a kick out of the front-page story in their weekly newspaper, the Custer County Chronicle. It was a long article about the invasion of mice this summer and fall, probably due to a mild winter. The article starts off with the editor explaining what he does when he opens the office each morning. He checks each mousetrap and disposes of the carcasses before his staff arrives.

I congratulate my Custer friends. If they had drive-by shootings, gang warfare, murders, rapes, and school shootings like blue cities and blue states have, the mice article would be relegated to a back page or not printed at all.
