It is September here.  From the pro leagues to the elementary schools, players of all sizes are suiting up and preparing for the new year of American Football.  Social Media is filled with football postings and one can see fields at all the schools filled with aspiring players.
I was at a friend’s house the other day who lives across the street from an elementary school.  As I pulled out, the expansive green football field was aglow with bright lights and filled with activity.  I paused for a few minutes and watched as the cheerleaders practiced their moves and the players were all doing drills in smaller groups.
As I watched, I thought back over the many years of seeing this scene play out across the country.  Little blue and white uniforms with short, running legs attached to an oversized helmet. It gave the appearance of cartoon characters randomly scrambling in all directions to avoid Wile E Coyote.  Some of the joy in life comes from the short pause at the end of the road.
